...when you order a bass off ebay/the internet and it doesn't come? It's been 2 weeks now and the guy is still saying 'you'll get it tomorrow at the latest'. This must be exactly what a woman feels when she sleeps with a random guy and doesn't get her period for 2 weeks.

I can't think of anything much worse. Give me burning kittens or rape by branding stick any day over a late internet order bass.

Lots of people. It comes with the territory when you buy on line, sight unseen, from strangers. Sure, you'll save some money (usually) over just going into a shop and buying what you want, but there's tradeoffs, and here's one of them.

You know what else sucks? When you do a trade here on the forum and are told the bass you are getting is in great shape no damage at all then is shows up with dents, dings and gouges...that sucks too.

I am not going to mention the TB'ers name, but he went crying to the admin when I told him under no circumstances would this deal be completed and I was returning his bass at MY expense.

I will have my bass back today, I am fortunate it is still at the shipping store since they only do a weekly pickup.

Does this sound unreasonable to anyone else?

I did forget to mention that the guy had it advertised as being delivered in 5 days, if he said it'd be delivered in 2-3 weeks then things would be different. Lying never gets you anywhere, and as you just demonstrated, this still holds true on the internet.

And ggunn, I accept that sort of stuff but IMO 2 weeks for a bass thats barely a state away is a bit silly. I've ordered a guitar from China over ebay and it was here in a few days.

You say that you accept it, but then you don't. It's not a matter of it being a short distance from you, it's a matter of depending on an individual you have never met to do what you expect of him. I'll hazard a guess that the guitar you ordered from China was from someone whose business depends on providing customer service. Ordering from an individual is a very different situation.

Dealing with eBay (especially with individual sellers) has inherent risks that in many cases negate the savings. Ya pays yer money and ya takes yer chances.
