I am a funk, soul, and Jazz guy, but, I am listening to the Doobie Bro's, music when I was a kid, and they are grooving ! I never realized the great bass grooves and cuts as 'Taken To the Streets", " Listen to he Music", and "Long Train runnin" ! Whew !

Check out "Rio", "Wheels Of Fortune", "8th Ave. Shuffle"...all from Taking It To The Streets.

"Another Park, Another Sunday" (from What Were Once Vices...) is great. Jazzy guitar solo with a nice outro thingee by Tiran Porter.

"South Bay Strut" from One Step Closer is a nice jazzy instrumental...something I wouldn't have expected from a band that rocked out with stuff like "China Grove", "Rockin' Down The Highway", etc.

Tiran Porter is one of the reasons I took up bass. "South City Midnight Lady" is one of my Doobie favorites.
My cousin roadied for the McDonald-era Doobies for a while. He said that was when he learned to sleep standing up! Not during the shows, obviously.

Me too.

I wasn't a fan of the Kermit the frog, (I mean) McDonald-era Doobies at all.

The Doobies with Tiran RULED. He had some awesome melodic grooves going on..... a hugely underappreciated player....
