Who makes the best double bag out there? In Case used to make a nice one but they were constantly out of stock and seem to have been dropped from the site.
I really like my Sadowsky Portabag - so something along those lines but with the capacity for 2 basses would be perfect. |

I also purchased off of Ebay a Fodera double gig bag...this is a really great double gig bag. Plenty of room and padding...
They showup every now and then on Ebay...I dont know who they use to make them but it very high quality. Looks like Reunion Blues or high end Levys?? |

The double case that, to me, provides the best combination of protection and light weight, and also has a feature that is key to me for a double bag... separate compartments for each bass with independent zippered access.... is the Mono double bag. Lighter than most single bags, and nice and padded and stiff. Not cheap.
The only downside IMO is that the pockets are quite small.... basically a very small 'tool pocket' on the top, and a main pocket with just about enough room for a couple cables, strap, tuner, and extra set of strings. If that works for you, great bag IMO. |

Ibanez is cheaper and better IMO. The handles on the UC are already coming out.

On the Fodera bag, if you're talking about this one, it's sold by Fodera and made by TKL...there's another company that sells the same bag as well...not naming any names...but it's the equal of the Undercover, in my direct (whoops) experience.
...oh, OK, yeah, we (Roscoe) use the same bag, I've been carrying my two basses in it for several years now, very good protection, well-built bag. I highly recommend it, wherever you source it.

Mono looks good but that's a ton of money. Still might go that way.
That Ibanez case looks great! Where's the drawback to the budget price? Can it fit Fenders, or just tiny-headstocked, tiny-bodied Ibbys? |

It is rock solid, looks great, is light and is easy to carry.
Not sure the model #, but it looks kinda like the one in the link without the leather pouch at the top. Lots of leather trim which looks great and makes it more durable. http://www.levysleathers.com/product...Gig-Bags-CM19L
P.S. Not sure the overall size, but my Bongo 5 fits in with no problem.

Fortunately for me, my wife made a very cool padded "sleeve" that fits over the original handles and that has helped a bunch
The good thing about the Gator is that it isn't expensive but provides a bunch of protection. Everything about it is cool except for those lousy handles .... . I put two ERB's in there (usually a 6 & a 7) http://www.guitarcenter.com/Gator-Sl...66-i1518755.gc

I have an iGig G515D double bag (in tweed ) and LOVE it. I've had it for about 7 months now, and while I don't use it EVERY time I bring a bass somewhere, it does get a fair amount of use. I wanted one for a while, but couldn't quite justify the cost until my latest gig. You know what? Worth every cent!
My review is below, but when I was researching, I also found this review on Youtube. iGig G515D Double Gig Bag Construction: Pretty top notch. Everything feels sturdy and nothing feels cheap. The nylon is pretty heavy duty and seems like it could take quite a bit of abuse. The zippers all have metal iGig pull tabs, which is a nice touch, as is the metal iGig logo on the big pocket. All major seams at stress points and around zippers are double stitched and reinforced (the only ones that aren't are on accent stuff). There are handles on almost every side of this bag (including the bottom), which makes moving it easy even when loaded. Like any double bag, it's going to be fairly heavy when you've got two basses in it, but the backpack straps are cushy and feel pretty good. They're well placed too... I'm 5'11" and can make it through regular sized doorways without having to bend down. There are also skid pads on the bottom. I actually had a luggage designer ask me if she could check it out. Protection: Like I said, the nylon is pretty tough/thick and while I wouldn't want to throw this bag in a pool, it seems at least reasonably water resistant. One thing I really like about the G515D is that each "layer" has a movable pad with a velcro strap to support the neck and help keep each bass from shifting around. All sides are about 3/4" thick foam that is quite firm, and I suspect it would take a pretty decent knock to damage the basses inside. The material inside is all soft, non-scratching, bass friendly type stuff, too. Since it's a gig bag and not a hard case, I tend to be protective of it, but probably more than I need to be. Storage: This is where this bag really shines. It has as much storage as you'd need on a gig bag. What they don't show you in the pics on their site is that the section with laptop pocket also has "office organizer" type stuff for pens, pencils, etc. Here's what I can fit in my iGig, without any trouble at all:
- two basses
- two straps (not cheapos either, I'm talking 3"-4" wide padded and/or leather ones)
- Shuttle 6.0
- power cable
- two 6' Speakon cables
- 20' instrument cable
- 1" 3-ring binder for charts (in the laptop pocket)
- cleaning rag
- pens, pencils, small notepad, etc
- business cards
- earbuds & headphone extension cable (for in-ear monitoring from the Shuttle)
- a couple granola bars for longer days/sessions Cons: I can't think of a one. Seriously.

I've had good luck with the Protec double bag. Each bass has its own zippered compartment. Good storage, comfy straps, very reasonable straps. I have however added a little extra padding at the bottom for the strap buttons. I may not need it but it makes me feel better. |

Ah, someone beat me to it. I've got an iGig single bass bag and it's fantastic! Excellent protection for the instrument. I've been seriously considering getting the double version of this gigbag since I've been so happy with the single bass version.
The only downside I would offer is that the single bag is actually a little bit on the heavy side. But I think that's part of the price you pay for that kind of heavy duty protection. |

Didn't see your post until after I'd made mine. As much as I really dig the iGig bag, for a double bass bag I might shop around some more. Walking my Roscoe Beck V plus sheet music around midtown Manhattan can get a little tiring with how much the iGig bag weighs. |

Like I said earlier, all sides are 3/4" and pretty darn firm.
The neck supports on each level are about 2” firm foam pads that are placement adjustable to fit to any bass. There’s also a velcro strap to keep the neck in place on each pad. They’ve got a picture on their site of the neck supports... The pic on the right in the first row of three (walnut-ish looking MTD).
