double gig bag!

so I ordered this gig bag so I can take two basses to gigs or studio sessions.
it's $50 including shipping, so I waited until I received to bag to share my impressions.
I have some Levi bags that i love and that lasted for over 14 years! it's tough to beat that!
Anyway, this new bag seems pretty sweet. it has enough padding, it's very sturdy, and it even fits my Yamaha TRB6JPII which has a real long neck and hardly any bags will accommodate it.
Anyway, for $50 shipped I thought it was a killer deal.
I hope it last for a little bit over two weeks!

I like that it has a full inch of padding. I just ordered a Fender "Deluxe" double bag for $35 with free shipping, but it has 20mm of padding.

I sure hope the Fender gigbag holds up. I just sold a bass and gave mine with it. It was pretty awful. hardly any padding. flimsy. the straps were thin, and just ergonomically uncomfortable. But then again, mine was probably the lower model.
the new one doesn't have 1 inch padding. in fact it doesn't have a whole lot of padding, but it's real sturdy. in fact it came on a box bigger than the boxes that they ship basses. made me wonder how they can sell it for so cheap, being that even if it doesn't weight that much, I think you may have to pay for some sort of oversize fees.
so it's not the kind of bag that would bend, as opposed to the Fender that I had, that without the basses inside, it was just like a sack on the floor! lol

According to the ad, the Pro Stage has 1" padding. Is that false?

I have one of those. With a Squier Affinity Jazz V and Squier Affinity P-Bass, one of the straps broke off... Too lazy to have it fixed. I'll get around to it. Best of luck! Otherwise a wonderful case, really it is.

well, so far I can tell that the strap that comes with it is low quality, and it concerns me as far as putting my heavy basses in the bag. I think if it's just for a couple of the lighter type basses it would be OK. Luckily I have a bunch of extra straps.
It has a couple of handles, two on the side that look and feel very strong, and one in the back. I wish it also had one in the front, kind of low near the front pocket, because I like carrying it like that.
The padding is not super thick but it's very sturdy. It feels like my basses are well protected. it feels like a real solid bag.
I wish it had more pockets.
It has one front pocket that will hold charts, patch chords, and maybe a small FX unit, tuner etc. and it doesn't expand much either.
Inside each compartment for each bass, it has one inside pocket for sheet music, or maybe even cables, etc. It's a cool feature although when you put your bass in the bag, the bottom of the bass might get caught in there, so you have to get it out of the way. No biggie, just a bit annoying.
It has heavy duty zippers. I am keeping my fingers crossed on this one!
It has a couple of rubber bumpers at the bottom. IME that is the part that wears off more quickly. So I'll be able to tell with time how it holds up.
Overall everything feels firm and I would have paid twice as much for it, if not a little more!
Please keep in mind, I want to like this bag! simply because I think it's a steal, and my other option, as far as double bags would go, probably would start at $250.
If something goes wrong with it in the next few weeks I'll report back.
You never know. All this stuff made in China have a self-destruction chip that goes off!

Good luck with it .... seems to be a decent bag. The weight issue is the same with all doubles, especially with some of the heavier ERB's. I use a Gator double bag and that sucker gets super heavy with my two FBB's (a 6 & 7). The handles on the Gator are well sewn but very uncomfortable ... that's the only real drawback I see with the Gator stuff.

Keep us posted on how it holds up. I need a bouble bag and am leery of getting something that will have to be replaced too soon.

Alright I took a chance on this bag. I'm currently using an absolutely terrible gig bag w/ zero padding anyways, this certainly couldn't be a downgrade.

Today was the first time I got to use it. Not a minute after putting the strap on for the first time did the buckle break, causing my basses to go crashing to the ground off of my back. The hipshot D tuner on my G&L is bent to **** now, but thankfully there was no body damage. The metal piece on the strap broke clear off. All I was doing was adjusting the pad on the strap while I was standing still locking my door, so it's not like I was being overly stressful on it. It had some accessories, my G&L L2K, and a Warwick $$.

The case itself actually isn't that bad and would be fine for light protection. It's certainly no mono case, but it's better than something like a roadrunner, etc. as far as padding. The handles feel sturdy so I guess I'll just be carrying it from on. There is a surprising amount of space in the front pocket, so that's nice.

I'll take pictures of the damage, broken strap, and the rest of the case later on. Currently I'm suffering from dinner coma and don't feel like getting it together.

yeah, I've been using mine, and it's doing just fine.
But like I did put on my own straps, I didn't even try to use the ones that came with it. I got some heavy gauge hooks at Home Depot.
It seems like a strong bag and I think it will hold, although it does gets heavy with two basses in it. As far as weight, I think it might be easier just use two bags. I only end up using the double bag if I have to carry other equipment and such.

Goddammit, I went to change strings today and my d tuner is completely fubar. There are missing pieces that must have been bouncing around in the bag or hanging on by a thread on the headstock... Nowhere to be found. Gonna have to replace the damn tuner. Will cost me more than the ****ing bag did.

I have a Fender double gig bag and I like if fine. It does have the negative of not being extra re-enforced at the bottom, so predictably the bottom strap knob punched through... easily fixed.

I have a Reunion Blues double and while that bag (like all their products) looks great and is very well made, it only has one compartment and a thin padded board to separate the basses, so thats not IMO very good design.

Gig bags don't give the same protection as a Hard shell case. If you're not going to handle with care, get a hard case.

There's a pretty big difference between not handling a bass with care and having a piece of equipment completely malfunction.

I have a mono double and it is awesome..I must say I regret purchasing it only becuae it is much easier to put 2 seperate gig bags in my car after my amp and monitor is in than 1 huge/heavy gig bag...but I know my basses are well protected.
