Double Gig Bag w/ Room for Shuttle?

Sign in to disble this ad
Here's what I'm looking for: a gig bag that can carry 2 basses and has room (either inside or via an ourside pocket) to carry my Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0. Also, it needs to be available in the UK. The Shuttle is so small that I thought this task would be easier...not so! Here's what I'm looking at so far:

Levy's Standard Double Electric Bass Bag (CM88)
Rockbag 20611BPLUS Double Bass Bag
Ibanez Double Bag Trolley E-Bass
Access Stage 3 AB3DB11
ProTec Deluxe Double Electric Bass Bag
Mooradian (Website says custom bags are available)
Incase Dub Bag (Expensive, and not sure of availability in UK)
Undercover (Also expensive, have to ship from USA, but have confirmation that the Shuttle will fit!)

And I already know that this one will not work: Proel Deluxe Double Bag

So, does anyone have any experience with any of these bags and thing the Shuttle might fit? Or, any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Measure it then check under the "accessories" link on the Club Bass website (Toronto). Dave is great to deal with.

Undercover can get the job done, I tried.

I have the ProTec double bag. The Shuttle would fit easily inside the outer pockets. Decent bag, but certainly not top-of-the-line.

I'm also looking for a great double gigbag! Thelowend.com had a double gigbag which was pretty nice. Not sure if Brian still sells them cause it don't see them on his website. It had two rooms so you didn't open have pull out the top bass to get the other one.

I have Incase slimbag and that's very nice! I'm thinking of their doublebag.

Why don't you e-mail Mark at bassdirect.co.uk? He is really helpful.
The pro-tec doesn't work, but maybe the Mono bags that he sells? I think they do a double? But I'm dubious that the pockets would fit a real book (judging from the pics) so I'm not sure?
Either way, Mark is really cool.
Goodluck with the search.

Mono don't do a double bag. But that pocket looks pretty big on the M80 gig bag. I am wondering if that thing will fit a Littlemark II?

It just doesn't look deep to me?? I need a new (single) gig bag also from the UK, but the mono just looks stylish but perhaps without practicality? I dunno - any thoughts would be helpful.
BUT Lets concentrate on the Double Bag+Shuttle issue...

I have the incase dub bag and the Shuttle fits in there no problem. I just went upstairs and put it in there to make sure -- it fits in there, though it's somewhat tight and might not fit if you put it in the Shuttle bag first. By itself though, the Shuttle 6.0 will fit in the side pocket.

It's a fantastic bag, but a little on the heavy side and VERY expensive. AFAIK, you can only get them directly from incase here in the US -- I got mine used off the TB classifieds, but you don't see the incase bags carried by any of the major online retailers, so I think you can only get them direct. Maybe they can do international shipping.

Just my $.02. I don't like to have my shuttle in my Gig bag because it makes it awkward to carry and when you set it down the amp is on top. I'm just paranoid that those sharp edges will damage something.

Granted I don't use top of the line bags, but 2 basses and a shuttle sounds like a bit much. I'm quite happy with my shuttle (and cables, a compressor, music, etc) in a separate laptop bag.

I'll send him an e-mail...his bags look nice but a little spendy, and I'd still have to ship to the UK.

I've heard that, and these bags look really nice, but again price and shipping come into play...

Do you have a Shuttle to confirm this with? Coincidently, I just got an e-mail from ProTec...they said the outside pocket is 14" x 10.5" x 2". Length and width are fine, but the depth might be a pretty tight squeeze?

I lust over this bag, but it is crazy expensive (+shipping, +import duties, etc). And I'm thinking I'd like some thing lighter as well...

www.probag-net.com

As far as I'm aware, they used to make the ones for The Low End, I might be wrong though, but they are very very similar.
I got one at the end of last year, just a single bag though, but it is incredible!
I've had a rough time finding a gig bag that I can trust with my Shuker basses, and this is the one!
The build quality and the protection is incredible, plus it looks and even smells great too.
You can get them with a saddle bag on it which would fit your Shuttle no bother I reckon.
Oh and they also shipped to me in Scotland no bother at all.

Definitely worth checking them out dude,
Eude

I'm not sure if the Shuttle will fit. But IMO this is the best looking double gig bag available. Might be worth checking out.

I have an Undercover double bag that Craig Garfinkel sent me (thanks, Craig!), and can tell you that they're very well-made. The only thing to watch out for is the fit of two basses. It doesn't fit 35"-scale basses very well at all (even 1 of them), and it's very hard to get it to zip closed with two basses in it, just because of the interior width. I literally cannot zip it closed with my Line6 Variax 705 (34" scale, but admittedly a large body, slightly bigger than a Jazz) and my MTD Artist 5 (35" scale) inside.

I ended up just buying a relatively cheap Gator double bag for $70 and that's what I've been using, instead. It's *huge* on the inside and doesn't have much padding (which unfortunately means that the basses can move around inside it pretty easily), but at least it zips closed to keep rain etc out.

The accessory pocket is a joke, so I just carry another bag from Lands' End for my Markbass LMII, music, and cables:

I've been using that bag for cables for 10+ years and it's held up incredible well; highly recommended.

Long time bump!

Eshears, what did you end up with? I am also looking for a double gigbag that will fit my Shuttle.

One thing to think about (especially as we age) is the overall
weight of the bag with two basses in it.
The Mooradian double bag is possibly the lightest weight bag
on the list, and has great foam protection. Very thick.
Plus with the storage the bag has, you can get the amp AND
your cords, tuner, etc, in the bag. If you wanted, they
could custom make a bag with a pocket made for the Shuttle.
Great people to deal with too.
