Yeah, all I've heard of was the tritone.

Still, if any scale like that existed, I'm sure the Metal crowd would have found it ages ago.

don't y'all google?!

So far I've learnt that the Phrygian language is closest to modern day Greek and that a Phrygian Cap is part of your gall bladder as well as a head dress of the Phrygians!

He said what now? The translation of "double phrygian hexatonic" into Greek comes out as something demonic?

Hardly a scientific test, but bablefish only recognises the word double, Phrygia was a place inhabited by the Phrygians in the bronze age, and hexatonic sounds to me like one of those "invented" english words that doesn't literally translate to any other language.

hexatonic scale: a scale of six tones made up of any two augmented triads that are a half-step apart. Reorder the notes into as smooth a scale as possible, and you've got it.

example: C E G#, Db F A == C Db E F G# A

Note the symmetrical shapes: C Db E / F G# A

Cool scale.

Right folks here it is took a bit of time but

Diabolis en musica- Devil in music

the augmented 4th was outlawed by Pope Gregory as the device of the devil

Also, much of the music from 500 years ago used open chords - 4ths, 5ths and octaves. Intervals of a 3rd or a 6th were considered dissonant and used only as passing tones or to be resolved into an open chord

dont hold me to this search google for more info
