Here is a program that I wrote that will help with figuring out and constructing modes for the bass guitar. You can select any note of the 12 from a dropdown box to act as the root and then select a mode. The program will then display the selected mode starting from your selected root. So if I chose C Dorian the program would display:
C, D, D#, F, G, A, A#, C
If I chose F Lydian, we'd get
F, G, A, B, C, D, E, F
and so on and so forth.
Here is a screen cap:

This is just a beta and I will post a corrected version if I can later this week.
