I posted how I miss ATDI on Ampeg's Facebook page (was a Mars Volta post) a few months back and Cedric, yes that Cedric, thumbed up the post.

Maybe it was in the works

What a great band.

It says they will be breaking their "eleven year silence." I couldn't believe that it had been 11 years. It seems like yesterday that I saw them playing to 100 people that were all friends and friends of friends, so I had to look it up. It turns out that I'm old now.

On the bright side, maybe the POS speaker cab that Omar used to use that's been sitting in my garage for years will garner some large cheddar on ebay.

They're on a short list of bands that truly broke up too soon.
...The Mars Volta is still pretty bada** though.

I never liked The Mars Volta. The guitar riffs, bass tone, and energy in ATDI reminds me of Sunny Day Real Estate on amphetamines, which is another band still on my weekly rotation.

I still remember the day I heard One Armed Scissor on Mtv(in 2000). I was like "Whoa, this is something special". Then I went out and bought the cd and rocked it hard. They were one of those bands that introduced me to non-radio rock. I was really surprised to find out that they had a bunch of other albums out. It was like "crap, what else have I been missing?"
I was going to see them open up for Beastie Boys/Rage against the machine but Ad Rock broke his foot and they canceled the rest of the tour. When me and my drummer/buddy were about to go on a road trip to see them play a show they broke up.

I`ve been able to see Mars Volta once and I saw Cedric and Omar(along with the rest of the Mars Volta) play a show under the banner of the Omar Rodreguiz group. That was pretty cool.
I`ve got to say though, while I like some(even most) of the songs by the Mars Volta, some times the spacey Floyd-like meanderings can get to be a bit much. ATDI`s raw energy, emotion and more cohesive songs writing was just perfect.
When I bought my turntable I went out and got every vinyl ATDI release I could get my grubby hands on. I still listen to them all the time. Their music just feels brand new to me.

I really hope, that if they do play some shows,I`ll be able to see them.

I prefer The Mars Volta (the first album at least). But One Armed Scissor is a great song.
