Drum machine?

Sign in to disble this ad
Since the only drummer I found for this new soul/ hip hop project was a waste of time, What about a drum machine? I'd like:- good sounds, to program the patterns, start/stop with my foot. Anyone have any suggestions?

In truth, I don't know.
I have a behringer midi foot peddle in the shed so I thought I could use it for the on/off or maybe pattern changes. On the other hand, a single pattern could get me through a whole song, so maybe I can use my finger!

I looked it up. Its a very old product which used Linn drum chips. Had an interview for a job in the factory in St Albans. Good thing I didn't because they had their ups and downs. Perhaps something newer and cheaper would do the same job (yesterdays hi-tec is today's easy-to-make crap). Finding one ain't easy.

I once thought about a laptop and fruityloops but that's not midi controlable either. (well mine aint!) and its a lot to drag on stage for 3 songs.

In truth, I'd prefer a drummer.

ah yes ...just about any drum machine would do what u need ..it was the hip hop bit that threw me.... i was watching some vid with jayz using his old dmx and well ...it was really great and of course thats my machine as well although i own a whole draw full of drum machines from over the years.

if i were u i would go for the simple stand alone box that u can just fire up....i know that laptops can do drums ect but its all a bit of a pain when the mood takes u to boot up ect.

but if the truth be known u could probably buy the cheapest non descript unit on the shelf and it would probably be just fine....but a make like boss/roland is the safe bet.

also i used to gig with a drum machine ..did the square a few times with the dmx......and that was also after having a drummer.....but drummers are such a pia ...always sodding around between takes ..the kit is always a problem to transport ect ect and my drummer had a habit of slowing up and down the pace.,.....but that was the 80s when drum machines were more of a novelty.
