Drumming 'as tough as a football match'

Didn't see this posted anywhere, thought it quite interesting.

"A study of Clem Burke, the drummer in Blondie, found that drumming for 90 minutes saw his heart rate rise to the level reached by the average top-flight footballer, and for the same period of time.

Burke's body was put under such stress during his gig that his heart averaged between 140 and 150 beats per minute, even reaching as high as 190. He also burned up to 600 calories per hour during the scientists' trials.

The eight-year study is a joint project by the Universities of Chichester and Gloucestershire."

But isn't he like in his 50s or 60s?

I'm old and out of shape and I'm sure the regular activities that would barely work up a sweat with me when I was younger would now kick my tail and leave me sucking wind.

They must be talking about soccer football. I was thinking, they couldnt have picked a worse sport to compare this to, unless each song was 10 seconds long and you played 60 songs. It makes more sense for soccer though.

Clem Burke was a total spaz back in the 80s. I could imagine his heart rate going off the chart in one tune.

The 80s weren't all awful.
