Drums In A Canadian Garage??

Sign in to disble this ad
Don't know if this belongs in here, so if not please move it. My problem is i'm looking at putting a kit inside my garage, but up here just outside of Toronto its getting quite chilly already. I want to know if its alright to leave the drums in the garage all the time, and just heat up the garage when i go into jam with the band. Would i need to take the drums inside when im not using them? or would it be safe to leave them in there without warping. The garage is 3walls brick and virtually soundproof, has a ****** door at the moment (hopefully soon to be replaced) and i'm getting interlocking foam tiles to lift everything off the concrete floor. Anybody from North of the border able to help me out? or give me some suggestions on the situation.

Thanks,
Mike.

Its not ideal for drums to change temperatur , most drums are still made in wood , wood that lives. Just like basses.
This questions often comes up , ill guess its not that good really. Keep the drums inside , ant heat the garage up when you guys gonna play. Think thats best for your drums.
Good luck man.

if you have the money keep the room heated for the whole winter, drums not only will come out of tune in Toronto's harsh winters but moisture will also get inside the heads (which has no laquer) and slowy decay the wood or water log it giving it a flat pongy sound.

Its like throwing a 1968 classical acoustic in a pong for a few days and hoping it still in tune
