Bag or case (as in hard case)? I did a quick search and saw some references to hard cases, but didn't really see anything that wasn't a flight case a big name touring bassist might use (large flight case, custom padding inserts, VERY heavy duty, VERY expensive). I also found a TB thread about that same question (2 basses in one flight case?) but that thread is a few years old and the links in there are broken now. I'm sure there's something out there, but if there is I don't know anything about them.

I have a Mono Dual bag that I like a lot. Here are my thoughts on it:
- Pretty expensive, close to $300
- VERY lightweight, lighter than many single-bass bags
- Comfortable to carry.
- Very good protection
- Decent storage, but the large front pocket isn't as large as some that are designed to hold a laptop or a "micro" head.

The light weight was the thing that ultimately made me decide on the Mono. At the time I didn't have my "micro head" (a GK MB500) but since buying that I'm thinking I might have been better off getting a bag that weighs more but has a larger main pocket so that head can fit in the bag, too.

For something like the Mono but with great storage, might want to check out the iGig bags. The video I saw for them made it seem like they have a crazy amount of storage sapce in them.

NOT cheap (one does, however, get what they pay for) - MONO

SLingBass4's got it. The Mono case is amazing. I have a single Mono and an older Ritter double bag. I am hoping that someday the Ritter will magically turn into a Mono. I have hear the Incase Dub is nice as well as the iGig double. All are pricey, but hte Mono is likely the best. I think they are close to $300.

Another +1 for the Mono... lots of protection, separate zippers/compartments for each bass, VERY lightweight. The only downsides are the price (still a good value, but expensive in an absolute sense) and the relatively small accessory pockets.

The Mooradian double bag is also nice.... big pockets, very lightweight, but not much protection (it isn't a hybrid semi-hard bag like the Mono)

Another vote here for the :: MONO :: dual case
Great quality, nice and durable, and comfy to carry with two instruments and assorted cables etc.
Pricy, yes (but worth it IMHO), and you may not fit a micro head in there (like others I've seen), but it works for me.
Cheers, T_G

I have the igig 515D and I love it. It's not so heavy on it's own but gets pretty hefty when you fill it up.

Here's what I normally have in mine:
Jazz Bass
Precision bass
Tone Hammer 500 Head
Peterson V-Sam Tuner
2 Speakon Cables
2 Instrument Cables
2 Straps
Various picks and earplugs
Spare Strings
Guitar Multi-tool

Even with all that in there I still have an extra pocket! It shares many of the same features as the MONO which is also a killer bag but just doesn't have the amount of storage I want.

Ibanez makes a double gig bag with wheels on the bottom. I just ordered a second one about a month ago. Great quality and about 100.00 drive out.

I use a Levy's Leather double bass bag, and it holds up very well. The mice thing is that if it ever does get a rip, there is usually a leather repair shop in town that can easily sew it up.

Levy's endorser.

I think have to get one of these. I have a roadrunner double bag, but it's built like crap. My basses are rather heavy so it's awkward trying to carry them in it. The wheels would solve everything. Anyone else used one of these?

+1

I bought the dual bass case and one of their backpacks and they are the best quality that you could ask for. Met Pat ad Kush at Lollapalooza this summer and talked to them about how they started the company, quality control and green initiatives. Very impressed. You can't go wrong with this case.

I just ordered a World Tour BDX22 Pro Double Bass Guitar Gigbag from Amazon, pretty sure it's the same one mentioned in this thread. Should be here Saturday.
actually cancelled the order, although I might not have done so in time... should know later tonight.

I haven't tried any ultra-high-end gig bags (Mondo, Reunion Blues, ???) and until earlier this year I pretty much avoided gig bags altogether, but one of the basses I bought off another TBer came with a Warwick RockBag. I was quite surprised by that bag, which has me reconsidering the necessity of schlepping hard cases around all the time. I also got to see one of the Reunion Blues RBB4 bags at the Atlanta Bass Gallery last weekend, and it was very impressive. If they had a dual-bass version of that bag, I might have ordered it already. They do have dual bass bags, but not the same model, and while I can perhaps rationalize spending $400+ on the right bag, I'd kinda like to see one first. And maybe make sure the dual bag concept actually works for me - if it does I'll probably end up dropping some serious $$ on one of the ultra-high-end bags sooner or later.

There is currently a used dual Warwick RockBag available in the TB classifieds. The $50 World Tour bag was going to be an experiment, but when I saw the RockBag I had second thoughts and cancelled that order. Not sure where to get them new, but if you want a good two-bass bag for under $200 I suspect that $100 for a used RockBag will be really hard to beat. I don't really need one now, otherwise I would have ordered it already - but if you do need one, you might want to check that out before I change my mind

Could someone please explain to me why a double gig bag is 5 times the prices of a regular one?

If you want a good gig bag, you need to spend some $. Double gig bags tend to fall apart much faster than a single (twice the weight).
A good double gig bag that won't fall apart, doesn't cut into your shoulders and actually protects the instruments is well worth the $.
I have been beating the crap out of my Mono M80-2B for the past year and it still looks and feels new.

Once again, there is currently a used dual Warwick RockBag available in the TB classifieds for $100 shipped. If any of y'all want it, better move fast because it won't be there tomorrow - I'm buying it if nobody does. While it's probably not as nice as the ultra-high-end bags, from experience with my single bass Warwick RockBag I expect it to be better than anything else I've seen for under $200. As I don't really need this immediately (and I can always re-order the $50 World Tour bag to try the concept and determine if I really want to look into the high end options) I'm holding off until tonight to give anyone here who needs solid, inexpensive dual bag a chance to grab it. But only until tonight...
