Not only is the subject here fascinating, but I don't recognize a single name. I wonder if any of them are still around? Types of people who play bass (and other instruments)

The first material called "duck tape" was long strips of plain cotton duck cloth used in making shoes stronger, for decoration on clothing, and for wrapping steel cables or electrical conductors to protect them from corrosion or wear
It was called duck tape during the war because of its properties of repelling water.
It was trademarked as DUCT tape by a guy who needed to make money. And when they used it in a grey color to wrap duct tape, that seemed to be one use for it.
But it's DUCK TAPE.
Or DUCT TAPE.
It can be called either, but some guy on the internet in the year 2000 basically asserts that anyone who doesn't call it what HE calls it, he must be superior.
Man, now I'm not going to sleep tonight.

And, yes, those guys (& girl/Boplicity AKA Jason Oldsted) made TB a very cool place in the day.
