Just posted in the other thread. Not sure which thread is going to be the official "earthquake" thread... so my repost....

I got the crap scared out of me in Bklyn. NY. Grabbed my wife who was sleeping and bolted out of my 4th fl apt which rocked for about 30 seconds. Never experienced anything like that before, and it wasn't fun. I don't know how people live in California. U gotta be nutz.

PS. I think bassnw had something to do with this. To take the focus off the other thread. Now they're at least being clever.

I was in my office on the 11th floor, and it started to sway. I thought I was dizzy until I realized that everyone else were too swaying. As for the Pres, I am with the Justice Department, trust me when I tell you his vacation is not like the ordinary person. He is being briefed every 5 minutes about what's going on and he has meetings daily. Don't believe the hype, I have seen it first hand.

+1

I've often said that if the founding fathers could come back and look at what we've done to their handiwork they'd say "Awwww, screw it - just stay a colony of England. The Brits won't screw it up this badly!"

Earthquakes can definitely be a sphincter-tightening experience; I lived within a mile of the epicenter of the Northridge earthquake in '94; not a fun way to start your day!
