Easy Songs You Have Trouble Playing

Sign in to disble this ad
I was wondering if anyone else has an easy song that they have trouble with. For me it's "Gimme Three Steps" by Skynyrd. I don't listen to that kind of music very often which may be the reason I eff up the fills. Also I ALWAYS play note for note (the way it was written). And there are lots of fills---They aren't hard, but I can screw 'em up anyway. Anyone else have a song that haunts them like this?

I feel you, I always want to hit the A run when the first solo goes on three steps. I probably do it 25% of the time, too.

Seven Nation Army. Don't make fun of me! I can play loads of stuff that's harder than it, but for me I always get the rhythm wrong. Probably because I don't like it.

It must be a Skynard thing because I have problems with Sweet Home Alabama. I have simplified this song so it sounds ok, the crowd never notices but I would love to nail all those little fills just for personal satisfaction.
Another song I have trouble with is BAD by U2. It just seems to me that their is no structure, it's almost like he noodles all the way through it but never plays the same thing.

My Sharona.

Play it note for note, but it's a total crapshoot for the whole band to hit every little different "my my my" etc. correctly each time. For some reason, it's like Flight of the Freakin' Bumblebee to get everyone on the same page for cryin' out loud.

I hate that song for it.

I can play Skynard all night long ... it's Lucinda Williams "Drunken Angel" ... that gets me.

... Give me three steps, and my bullets back ... and you can call me the breeze ...

Leon played with a pick...try playing his stuff that way if you don't already. It does help with his style.

I alwyas have trouble with the first 5 or six songs in our set no matter what they are. It's like my brain takes a little while to engage.
