I sent the doorstop pedal back to the buyer on Monday, got confirmation from USPS yesterday. Paypal then refunded my full amount, including my initial shipping cost. Buyer immediately "appealed" it, but Paypal ruled in my favor.

So I got my full amount back. I don't want to leave negative feedback to the buyer, but I feel I have to. There was no way the seller couldn't have known that pedal was toast. "Someone" had even opened it up and tried to repair it and made things worse. He also stopped returning my e-mails. So the whole thing sounds fishy.

Drama is over, and my coffers have been refilled. Thanks to all for their advice. I wish Craigslist was active in my area, but it's not.
