ebay private auctions?

Looking at a few basses on ebay and one of them was a private auction. I can't for the life of me think of a good reason you'd make an auction private.

thoughts?

one reason would to prevent bidders getting fake second chance offers from scammers

So the seller is looking out for the welfare of the losing bidders?

Another reason is if the seller is running a scam, you can't contact the individual bidders.
