Ebay wary

Sign in to disble this ad
I was thinking of putting an expensive workstation I have on ebay but im weary of scams etc. Things like non-payment etc I dont think is that big of a deal since there is no merchandise lost. I am namely weary of the fact that paypal can freeze your account if the buyer pulls a fast one per se. It seems like paypal is a monopoly now and has to be offered as payment. My rating is a simple {13} with 100% feedback. Any suggestions on how to protect myself aside from not accepting bids from low feedback people etc? Thanks

Wary = cautious, concerned
Leery = cautious, concerned
Weary = tired

You can state in the auction text "Bidders must have a minimum feedback rating of X number and Y % positive. Bids from people who do not meet this criteria will be canceled, and if the high bidder at the end of this auction does not meet this criteria then they will receive negative feedback and their bid will not be honored."

Putting that kind of text in covers you contractually in a way that Ebay's own policies do not.

Also you might want to note that Ebay/Paypal now will hold your funds for 21 days if you have feedback under 100 count. They might release your money if and when they leave you positive feedback (3 days later) and you can supply delivery confirmation (24 hours later). Then you have to wait the usual time for it to get to your bank account (another 3 days).

I just went through all of that, it's a pain and very unfair thing they just started doing.
They basically changed the rules without notifying anyone other than if you read their forums. Total BS in my opinion.

I guess in these hard financial times they only want to deal with big sellers. Oh and I'm sure they are enjoying the interest on all the sales that they get to hold on to the cash.
Oh yeah if you send anything internationally you have to wait for feedback, tracking doesn't count.
Good luck,
Dirk

Old Ebay= good
New ebay= FAIL

I won't buy or sell on ebay anymore. I've been hosed too many times. And PP "protection" is virtually worthless to the seller.

Sorry to poop on the parade, but deal on CL locally, or here on TB.
