Ed Roman vs. Alembic

Sign in to disble this ad
Was browsing through some sites, and came across this on Ed Roman's site regarding Alembic.

"We had to stop carrying Alembic.
Their pricing system defies all known logical parameters."

Ha ha ha...well I thought it was funny, anyway. Not knocking Alembic -I love 'em- but their prices...

Here's the full story

Edit: I read the whole link and he doesnt really pan them. In fact I can kinda understand where hes comming from. I imagine he probably doenst sell enough to make it worth the hassle. I still wouldnt buy anything from ed roman.

He wasn't saying their prices were outrageous, but the sales they ran were. Customers that weren't getting these free upgrades in the monthly specials he ended up having to take it off the purchase price and lose money.

I wouldn't buy anything either from there, but it makes perfect sense.

I say, Ed Roman defies all reasonable and ethical means of doing business...

Ed Roman loves to trash talk any instrument that hes not currently selling. For years if it wasnt a PRS it was crap. Ive seen him rip apart Ibanez, Schector and every other guitar that priced under $1000.

Last I heard he had sold his interests in the Connecticut operation and was focussing full time on the Las Vegas store. But that could still be old news in need of an update.

fwiw, I *love* perusing his website, there's just so much cool information and opinions flung about like a madwoman's poo. And I actually bought a PRS guitar from Ed in 2000; now that was quite the experience!

Last thing I read was here a few months ago. Somebody had visited the store and reported that they were liquidating everything, which was pretty much just a bunch of cheap Asian imports.

As far as I know he closed the store in New Fairfield CT when he went to L.V. He also owned or was part owners of East Coast Music Mall which is still around (and has nothing for basses or bass amps) But he has nothing to do with that store any longer.
