The cheapest was my first bass, a Univox semi-acoustic, factory second, with a plastic
"Maestro" nameplate over the Univox logo, 50 bucks new at a pawnshop about 40 years ago. Not really a bad bass at all. Fun to play, looked really nice with a ruby-red foto-flame sunburst. Never got a chance to hear it thru a good amp to get a proper idea on it's sound. It looked like this, except mine had still had the pickguard:

Worst bass was a $100 Hondo(II?) Rick copy. Looked nice but it had a badly bowed neck with really bad action. With a proper setup, it might have been better, I don't know. At the time I didn't know about setups and what not. It had lousy tone, too.
