Endorsement Press Package

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I'm in the process of getting my second endorsement deal and unlike the first company, this company is asking for an artist press package. I'm just a little bit unsure of what this typically entails as I am basically new to endorsements. So, anyone know first hand what I should include in this press package? Photos, bio, list of gigs, etc....How large should this be? Maybe some guys who have gotten endorsements can weigh in?

Thanks,
bh

Interesting question!
I'll check later for the answers.

Brian, congrats on an amazing version of Teen Town!
Inspiring!

Check out www.sonicbids.com
You can put together an electronic press kit, EPK, it's free for the first 30 days then the basic account is $6.00 a month.
www.sonicbids.com/stevearaujo
It's a bit more professional than myspace, and you can e-mail it to people and companies.

sonicbids is ok for what it is, and +1 for it being a step above myspace, but it sounds like it's time you sprung for your own domain. That wasn't your question.

Artist press kits need only to include a one page bio, your head shot, and a one page list of notable gigs/reviews/experience/other endorsements. An extra "in action" pic or three as a one page montage can't hurt since it is an individual endorsement package, but anything more than that is pretty much unnecessary. I've dealt with hundreds from both sides, sending and receiving/reviewing, and short is always better. If they want more, they'll ask. All of these things can easily be turned into pdfs and posted on any web page as an e-kit, too. Include a 3-4 song sampler of your material if appropriate, and one copy of a studio/label release, especially if the packaging/production is noteworthy. Always take the plastic off any manufactured discs! You think it's annoying opening one of them? Try 50 in a row.

An extra note on sonicbids: Don't ever apply for any of the gigs offered through the site's "drop box". All they do is collect money for every submission, and you end up in the scrub pile competing for an unpaid/low paid gig, usually on a tertiary stage.

Use it freely as a source of potential press kit targets, but do any submitting on your own through regular channels.

bigfatbass-

Thanks for the advice, thats exactly what i needed to know. It's my first endorsement and I'm totally new to dealing with gear companys. Unfortunately, I do not have a "real" website (do you think this is a problem?) but can send all of the materials you listed professionally formatted.

Thanks again,
Bh

Glad to help, it's actually something I have more than a fair share of knowledge about, lol.

I'd be glad to help edit a bio if you wanna e-mail it to me when you are done. As I said I've dealt with hundreds, and I'm always ready for some cannon fodder to keep my mad skillz sharp.

Here's a link to our simple bio page:

bigfatbass-I agree with you, but I use SonicBids for my own personal promo and it works great, I've also met a few really cool musicians through there too.
