Question endorsment? help?

Sign in to disble this ad
umm..

im kinda clueless about endorsmet but one of my friends and fellow bassists who is extremely good at bass (especially considering hes only been playing two and a bit years) was asking me about endorsment (cos i know more about basses than he does) and i have no idea about endorsments.

can we ask for one?
does he have to play a certain style?
can he change styles of music and still keep his endorsement?
i kinda geussed wed have to send in a demo or video of him playing right?
will this restrict his band in any way?

he is a really good bassist and hes quite versitile he can play everything from metal to funk to contry to jazz and he's in a band and everything.
he currently plays an ibanes umm... something its quite a cheap bass and i beleve its holding him back due to the un playability of the bass. he badly needs a knew bass but i doubt that hes going to be able to scrape togeather enough to buy a bass, we're not trying to get him a knew bass for free but something off the price is better than nothing and will make his life easier.
oh and he plays guitar very confidently, he can play the violin too

thanks mat

p.s. im not sure this is in the right forum, sorry

endorsment isn't about being good, its about being seen/heard. You can't get endorsement from a demo of playing on your own in your bed room, go out and get gigs, o and do a search this is quite regually discused

By the way, if you ever write to a company asking for an endorsement (or for anything at all, it doesn't even have to be a musical instrument company), please sort out your spelling and grammar.

Is your friend sixteen also? Unless he tours and gigs regularly, an endorsement will be nigh impossible to get. Like namraj said, it's about getting the product out there. You could play like Geddy Lee, but if you only do that in jams, and practicing with your band, it won't get you an endorsement.

Not only that, many companies are moving away from endorsing so that makes it even harder to achieve.

Very true. Luckily, some of us have been grandfathered in! Seriously, the bars have been moved up a little higher now. It's not impossible, but harder. Personal relationships with people at the companies are the key.
