I play in a wedding band and we take few breaks and play for long stretches at a time. I'm looking for an energy drink I can have that will get me through the last 2 hours of the night - any suggestions on something that will be more than just a short burst? |

It's even tolerable unsweetened. I find it keeps me a bit more awake in a steady, no spikes, no drops kind of way. |

I have a spray concoction I use that involves honey and oil to keep my voice going when it's really dry and dusty out, which is frequently.
It's amazing, though, how much you can drink and not need to whizz when it's 115 degrees in the shade Even the A/C is set at 85 to avoid 5-figure power bills at a bar.
EDIT: Hey look, there's a banner ad for Lance Armstrong's energy drink immediately to the left Try that out.

And on topic: Five hour energy. |

It's called Vocal eZe (that's the way the name is spelled on the bottle, anyway). http://travelwellness.com/index.php?...pper&Itemid=31
It tastes like death, flavored with honey. It doesn't make my voice feel any better while I've got a cold, or towards the end of a weekend, but it keeps the notes coming out, with little or no breakage, cracking, etc. The vocal cords just keep on working
My singer complains when she's got a cold and I don't bring it. One of these days, she'll remember she can buy her own bottle
It's basically a bunch of oils, licorice, honey, and other stuff that singers have been using for years to keep their voices going strong. Nothing new, just a convenient package for stuff that's worked for centuries.

I wanted to claw my face off. I have gotten good results by mixing half the bottle with a cup of Emergen C (powdered Vitamin C with a couple of other vits thrown in) and taken the other half when it was starting to wear off and gotten fairly good stamina from it. Just don't down the whole bottle at once.
Also, if there's a Chinese herb shop near you, you can get sliced ginseng root (make sure they have the whole root and slice it right there for you). Just chew on a piece or two before the set starts, you should be good to go.
BTW, at one job I had, I used to alternately give one of my supervisors ginseng and kava kava (depending on whether he was feeling tired and cranky or stressed and cranky) until I got him into the mood I wanted him.
