Entwistle & Me

Sign in to disble this ad
So I played a show last night with my old band and I decided to take some liberties with my tone on my Warwick Jazzman. I heard that Entwistle used to turn his treble and bass all the way up, so I did the same.

AWESOME!!!!!

Now I wouldn't do it all the time but since I was playing with a rock band.... sooooo fun. What did it sound like? It was like using a samurai sword to make a sonic boom!

Treble and bass all the way up? Not sure if that's what Ox did, but if you like it, cheers... not my cup o' tea.

I read in BP mag that that's what he did on his buzzard. Right or wrong it was something I never had thought about doing. Also, I'm just begining to scratch the surface on "the Ox". This is what started it...

I always heard that he said "Full volume, Full treble."

If it works for you thats awesome, im a bit fan of turning the treble and bass up and the mids down a bit, its good for practice but IME it wont cut it well in a band situation, it doesnt for me anyways.

Because I was just filling in (in a band that I was fired from) I only brought my 1x15 (I was too lazy to lug my 4x10 much less my 4x10 and 1x15). I knew if it wasn't going to cut the mustard I'd still have help from my DI and the PA system. I think the EQ setting had a lot to do with my stage volume cutting through the two guitars with full marshal stacks, and I still had full rumble and attack! In a 300 hundred person venue, I was still able to be heard (I was turned almost all the way up though).
