Essex / Douglas Guitars?

I know the reputation that basses from Rondo Music have around here, but I'm thinking about purchasing a cheap guitar to knock around with, and I've never read much about them. Anyone have any experience?

My first thought was that I should get a guitar without a tremolo bridge, because I don't need it and it's less to go wrong, and most of the tremolo bridges look extremely flimsy. However, I don't really like any of the guitars with fixed bridges, and I've spotted a couple with nicer looking bridges. (See here and here.)

Does anyone know if these "Licensed Floyd Rose Tremolo" bridges are well built? Will it just fall apart, or constantly be out of tune?

Thanks for any input, and sorry if this is posted in the wrong forum.

My son has the Agile. Well built. Rondo is nice to deal with so if you get a lemon, it's not an issue, they'll get you another one.

But, for me, Agile = Korea = can be bought with out inspection. Essex/Douglas = China = do not buy with out inspection.

That's my rule of thumb....

My guitar player bought an SX double cut away on ebay for like $70 as a back up to his Les Paul. He plays it quite abit and it sounds good too.
