So we were supposed to go on tonight at 10:30, and i'm plannin ong being there by 9:30. As i'm getting out of the shower at 9:05 ii get the call...... "the band was just told to play their last song, we're up next"......

what happened to 10:30???? it's now 9:10. i made the gig, but all our peeps showed up AFTER we finished..... grrr. super weak.

I know, be ready for anything, but... dammit. it was a long work week and i was taking my sweet a$$ time.

we rocked though!!! everyone there dug it and some lucky folks got CD's to take home.

ok, semi-loose-kinda-sorta-maybe rant over.

Glad you did well, but that is kind of lame. Sounds like there was a communication issue with the venue or something?

Was this one of those 45-minute gigs?

Same shiznit was pulled on me once, almost eerie in its similarity, except I was trying to take a nap before the gig-- after working over 14 hours that day with the radio at the state fair-- and I showed up in what I thought was enough time, walked in to hear my band playing a song without me. Now, I knew we had been switched to an earlier slot, but I didn't know that the song I walked in on was the last of our 45minute set. I had my amp set up and was just turning up my bass when BAM!!, gig over, everybody pissed, bass player looking like an ass. If only I hadn't left my cellphone with a station vehicle. 14 missed calls from my bandleader.

The bandleader in my group told me that we were going to start
at a certain time at a gig inside a "golf dome" (inflatable building
for practicing golf, driving, etc.). I pulled up about 40 minutes
ahead of schedule, I get out of the car and hear the band playing
our opening tune!!

I'm rushing to get my bass out of the car and get in, and I have a
drink from a fast food joint, and when I throw the cup away as I
enter the building, I also throw my car keys away! Luckily I noticed
right away and was able to get them quick.

Next hurdle. This is an inflated building, so there's a revolving door
to go through so that the air doesn't all escape(air lock). It's not easy
getting your bass in it's hard shell case in through this kind of door.
Especially when you're in a panic.

This was the second day of the gig, so my rig was already there,
but we wear matching outfits, and I had left all my clothes there
from the day before. So as I come running in, I get "the look",
and go to quickly change clothes behind a trailer.

I got onstage in time to finish the next song, and on the first
break, I managed to remind the leader about him telling me what
time we were going to start. He said that they would let us quit
early if we wanted to start early, so I wasn't totally blamed.
They still bring it up form time to time, but it's in good spirits.
I am the youngest one in the group, so they feel some kind of
obligation to give me a hard time now and then.

But it's a really bad feeling to get out of your car and hear your
band playing without you! I will never let that happen again.
