Ever had this happen to you?

I told this aquaintence of mine that I had an audition with a certain band. So the next day or two this guy calls the band member in charge of hiring a bass player, and inquires, like he's interested in the job. The band member sorta knows this guy and sorta knows he knows me, and tells him that they were trying me out. The aquaintence says Oh, like he didn't know.

Kinda weird. I guess the dude can play bass a little, and he probably sings better than I do. Says he's played in bands before. Maybe he has, I don't know. But he has no bass gear.

or if you really want to just tell somebody, tell whoever but give them the wrong info as to what band you're trying out for, lol.

I shoulda got my facts straight. Turns out he answered an ad that didn't have the band name in it, so he didn't know it was the same band when he called them. And he's probably capable of rounding up some bass gear in a hurry at a pawn shop or whatever, if he wanted or needed to, so not having the gear on hand isn't a big issue. Just ignore me.
