Ever look up Old bands you've been in?

I looked at a few bands I played in (not gonna mention names) and see they still haven't done much of anything. Same reverbnation or myspace they had years ago. Anyone else ever do the same and look up old bands to see if they're doing better

I have. They're actually doing pretty well as a local act.

I keep up because I'm friends with them on facebook.

They're signed to a major label now....

I just did...they were trying to get it going again but they just sent out a message that they are calling it quits. I did all the marketing, including the website, so I just put a forward on to my new band lol

I do ocasionally.... I just re-joined one of my old bands now that one of the guitarists is gone.... Backstory: A friend (Guitarist/co-writer/singer) and I wrote our entire 1st album and then started this "Band" and we recruited a drummer and another guitarist, all went well until we starting the writing process for our 2nd album and then bam, all of a sudden it's like our style changed over night, mostly because the guitarist we hired wanted to do most of the writing for the 2nd album, we went from a ambient, atmospheric metal type thing (think Tool meets Isis) straight in to the djent math metal poly rhythm stuff (Periphery and Animals as Leaders) and I was really not digging it at all.... I tried to hang in there for about 8 months and decided it wasn't for me... I Quit.... well now "That" guitarist is no longer with them because the rest of the band finally decided that the current music they were doing was not what they wanted to and "That" guitarist decided to quit and now I'm back...... The original Guitarist/writer/singer had moved to bass while I was gone and now he is back to Guitarist/co-writer/singer.....

I have. They went through a lot of lineup changes, tried to get me back and now are gigging out under a new name. As long as they're happy, I'm cool with that.

All have folded except one, and that horse is dying a slow, revolving door death.

A bit different story since I"m probably older than you guys.

I've looked up previous band members from different bands I've been in and found quite a few of them over the past few years. A few of us started jamming a few times a year just to catch up and have some fun. I even found the first guitar player of my first band. He's still playing and gigging after all these years.

If you still remain friends or acquaintances with former band members, I suggest you keep in contact because you never know what will come up in the future.

No. I learn what I can and move on. For the most part same with girlfriends, except for a couple of exceptionally cool ones, but with bands, none. Once I'm gone I have no reason to look back. I consider it a closed chapter.

I was only in one band before my current one.

The music had potential but the songwriter/frontman was an arrogant jerk and couldn't keep the band together because of his attitude. He's still trying, but doesn't realise he's the reason no one can stick around

I just recently had an experience like this: A guy who played guitar in my roommate's band back in 1983 (!) -- a band that I had subbed in a couple of times -- found me in 2010 via some clever cyber-stalking, just because he wanted to get some info from his former bandmate/my former roommate. We literally hadn't seen, heard, or probably thought of one another in those intervening 27 years.

But it turned out he wasn't playing in a band, and one of mine was looking for a guitarist, and so voila! we're playing music together again now.
