I'm seriously in the market for a nice acoustic guitar after me wifey said to take the tax refund money to get one . I'm thinking Gibson J185ce .
http://www.gibson.com/Products/Gibso...EC%20Rosewood/
I can order one from this one store for $2250 or Go up north of Chicago in Highland Park and actually try several but for $2500 if I wanted it right now.
I guess the bass player in me wants the jumbo size for it's bass reponse compared to dreadnoughts and small body sizes.
Anyone else have a prized possesion?

I have a PRS Custom 22 20th annaversary, PRS Custom 24. Both with 10 top maple tops, but my REAL expensive one is a slate PRS Modern Eagle. Don't have a picture of the Custom 24 yet.

There's always Martin and Taylor, too.

I have a Taylor 414 Koa. I bought it new a few years back for about $1,200. They've gone up and the same guitar will probably top $2,000 now.

I owned a Gibson CL 30 in the late 90's which I bought new for under $1,000. It was bubinga with an arched back. It was an awesome sounding guitar. I sold it at a profit of alomost $400.

The best bargain as far as sound goes right now is the Breedlove Atlas Rosewood model. It is soooo brilliant and only goes for about $800 because it's not American (Korean). It is a great guitar though.

I have a Martin too, didn't pay near as much for it as my PRS's. For Acoustic, I'm Martin and Taylor all the way.

Taylor 714ce would be the choicest of my 4 guitars. Paid $1870 when I had a good friend working at a music store. 1999 model.

Hmm... you can barely see it. It's on the left!

That Takamine 12-string was an ebay steal at $230 - it's a solid top with a pickup, and came with a case. That being said, I got a bum of a Seagull 12-string for about the same price and about the same time - it turned out to have a broken truss rod. I found out too late to take it up with the seller.
The Ovation was a pawn-shop special. I paid $350 for it, in immaculate condition, with case. Just had to replace the strings.
The Ibanez S1520 Prestige ran me about $1100 new from a big chain store.

Bah... PRS's are WAY too overpriced. Charging that much for a production model... I don't like it.

The most valuable guitar I own is the one I finished building today. I haven't put a set price on it (I don't think I'll sell it either, I gotta keep #001!!!) but anywhere from $1,700 to $2,000. If you want to see, check it out in the luthier's corner!

I recently bought a new Gretsch 5125, I can't stop playing it. I have nothing but good things to say about this guitar, and if I start I might not stop. So here's a picture of it, sorry the headstock can't be seen, it looks great though. 3x3 is the way to go, sorry Fender.

He sure sells a lot of them, and there is a waiting list on the Modern Eagles right now. Not anymore expensive than a production model Les Paul or a signature model Strat.

TRY BEFORE YOU BUY. I was just told by a guitar player I know that's had years of experience ordering and trying out guitars, that no matter how much you order the exact thing you want, wood, etc, in a guitar, EACH one sounds different. Go and try them out.

Especially acoustics. On my Martin I tried out a handful of the exact same model and they were all different. They will also sound different after broken in and have had a chance to breath.
