Famous guitarists who changed to bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Are there any out there? I know John Frusciante plays a little on his solo stuff and have heard EVH recorded a bunch of the bass lines for their albums. But are there any bass players who were guitarists professionally and decided to just play bass?

Geezer Butler played guitar before he joined Black Sabbath. Apparently, Iommi didn't want a band with 2 guitarists, so Geezer switched to bass.

I believe Tal Wilkenfeld was a guitar player, but I'm pretty sure she became more famous on bass.

Yeah, that's who he meant.

About McCartney: I read somewhere (probably on Wikipedia) that he was playing guitar in The Beatles but their bass player left or was fired or something. And someone said that one of the guitarists has to play bass and Lennon and Harrison were like, "**** that ****" so McCartney had to do it. Is that a true story?
