Favorite Black Sabbath CD

What are your favorite Black Sabbath CD's out of the first four? You can pick 2, and no carrots.

I only used the first four because they all had the same musical feel to them. For me this is a really hard choice.

didn't vote because i like them all....although i call them "records"...:D

Well I would pick Mob Rules... probably followed by either Technical Ecstasy or Never Say Die.

Out of the first four... probably going to go with Master of Reality.

And yeah, they're albums... or even LP's.... and I am old.

Sabbath Bloody Sabbath should be up there too, but I'd still have picked Black Sabbath.

Liv3rman 02-02-2013 05:58 PM

The self titled debut by a country mile. :)

I know... We Sold Our Soul for Rock and Roll.

That about covers most of the important songs.

The First. Black Sabbath

black sabbath albums - vote

I like the drum sound on black sabbath. I don't believe it was ever captured the same way in subsequent albums.

i feel the album Black Sabbath is an awesome landmark in so many ways and in its entirety because it laid the foot print for what still stands today.

The intro and

'What is this that stands before me'....

Stark and menacing surely :) LOL ;)

It still effects me to this day..dark room, head phones, eyes closed....and then back it up with the Wizard....and on it goes.!! ...

Paranoid same but it was produced after Black Sabbath.

Admittedly Paranoid achieved a number one but I am voting on what the album did for me rather than what was or may have been more popoular, so to speak.....

steamthief 02-02-2013 08:02 PM

To me, side 2 of Paranoid is the essence of classic Sabbath. Beavis and Butthead agree: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMTmpPdoJ50

Heaven & Hell has some great stuff from ol Ronnie.
Just got a copy of 'Heaven & Hell ' The Devil You Know' that was done in 2009 but had V. Appice on drums.I know it anit Sabbath but it is except for the drums.
This sounds so good & heavy from these old fellas. It sorta spins my mind how good they can sound without even trying.
They cd`s are all good.

I remember at my local library, amongst the Olivia Newton John and the Dan Fogleberg was nestled Black Sabbath's Greatest Hits, complete with The Triumph Of Death cover. I was about 11 years old when I found it. How it lured me in with its daring cover art.

These are really hard choices!

1st, Paranoid, & Master are ALL KILL NO FILL. Vol 4 has some great stuff, but one or two cuts that I can live without. I guess I chose S/T & Paranoid cuz Master has more of a predictable timing feel to all the songs, whereas the first two just rock all over the freakin' place :bassist: Geez & the band at their finest!

mellowinman 02-03-2013 01:01 AM

Paranoid is the best Heavy Metal album of all time.

Nashrakh 02-03-2013 03:24 AM

Hard time deciding between BS and Paranoid... Generally I like the songwriting on paranoid better but their first is just too damn good not to get my vote.

Tituscrow 02-03-2013 05:26 AM

Hard choice. I'd probably go with either the first record it the second record. For me, however, its the back-to-back genius of 73's SBS followed by 75's Sabotage that I keep going back to.

And yes, another oldie here with all these albums gathering dust in boxes :)

notverygood 02-03-2013 01:02 PM

Paranoid and MOR for me. Like said before no filler at all. Never could like Ronnie J Dio era Sabbath outside of the song Heaven and Hell.
