Sorry to start another favorites thread, but let's have a a go at listing some great drummers who would be your ultimate rhythm section partner. I suppose you could argue that this thread should be in a different forum, but I'd consider a sympathetic drummer to be equally important as what bass you choose, what strings you use and what rig you have.
I know this is a R&R-centric forum in many cases, but let's not forget about the jazz world.
Here are a few of my favorites:
R&R
1. Bill Bruford
2. John Bonham
3. Terry Bozzio
4. Carl Palmer
5. Mitch Mitchell
Jazz
1. Frank Butler
2. Larance Marable
3. Elvin Jones
4. Roy Haynes
5. Dannie Richmond

| | | | I'm not really an avid jazz listener, but for rock and roll:
Jerry Shirley (Humble Pie)
Jim Fox (James Gang)
Ian Paice (Deep Purple)
Doug Clifford (CCR)
and of course Keith Moon and Bonzo.

Danny Carey
Mike Portnoy
Carter Beauford
Blake Richardson
Steve Gadd
Tony Royster Jr.
Thomas Haake
I would flip out if I ever got to play with any of those guys.

| | | | drummers? Well I am a drummer first and a bass player second. Most of the time I am playing drums these days in bands but I help several people with recording and I am usually record both drums and bass.
So for the most part when I play I play with myself... Wait , What?
Listen to "Open My Heart" for my drumming and bass playing. http://www.reverbnation.com/artist/a...harysmithmusic
Anyway , no one has mentioned Stewart Copeland yet or Tim "Herb" Alexander. I would love to play with those guys.
