Favorite "epic" Zeppelin song...from my list

I was driving home from work and listening to kashmir on the radio and I wanted to see what TB'ers thought about "epic", slow building, or long zeppelin songs.

most of these are on my 5-star playlist on my computer, one or two are 4 star. I tried to gather eiight to vote on so I'd get less complaints. but I'm sure there will be some.

I chose Kashmir after reviewing the songs from the list. I like the relentlessness of it and I like feeling hypnotized by the pace and melody. I feel like I can feel the "place" in the lyrics. love plants vocal strainings, Johns swishy rolls and ambient cymbals.

The lack of No Quarter on the list is very disappointing. So I had to go with The Carrot Song.

"kashmir" seems to me to be the most epic song zeppelin ever did... in every sense of the word "epic."

i would've voted for "how many more times" if it had been on that list, though. genius.

I didn't feel it was "epic" enough. it hits the ground running, but doesn't build. I gave it a 4 of 5 on my playlist

kinda "my bad" how many more times was a 5 star song on my list, but I left it off thinking I was restricted to 8 choices

I recently started to really like no quarter, especially on the live remastered DVD The song remains the same.

but, kinda like my whole lotta love comment, no quarter, has kind of an opposite vibe for me. it starts out really slow and barely pics up. I have to be in just the right mood to "get into" no quarter. I gave the studio version only a 3?

I love "Achilles' Last Stand." It seems like it's a whole journey.

Im also in on Achilles last stand, The frantic hourse galloup pace of that song makes it stand out, If I could note for teo In my time of dying would be the other...Jimmy Page and his slide playing on that pre dates something Jack white would have done by a few deacades

* = I don't care if I never hear this song again
** = I'll listen to it if it comes on the radio...but could take or leave it...
*** = average song, repeat listenable
**** = very good song, gets me pumped maybe, very repeatable
***** = possibly timeless, masterpiece of songcraft, sage-like wisdom lyrically or musically

I voted Kashmir. I think it's definitely in their most epic songs, and something I can listen to over and over and over.....

Exactly.

Not really "epic." It doesn't sound big, (or super long!) so it just isn't what I'd call an epic song. Black Dog is one of my favorite songs though.

Ten Years Gone. I love that song! I actually can play most of it on guitar but never bothered learning the bass part. Jimmy Page had some amazing chord progressions.

I voted Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. IMO Plant's voice was never better than on the first album. And that descending chord pattern... Epic!! I love all the other tunes too, though...
