Hey guys, Im a fairly big fan of a funk/acid jazz/whatever you wana call it. Yet Im getting a bit tired of the same old lines that I listen to. So, lets see some songs that you think have some great groovin' lines.
Mine:
"Good Times" by Chic
Pretty much anything by Jamiroquai
Im sure theres more just cant think of them right now...

"Stratus" by Billy Cobham is high up too, if you scroll over the 4 minute intro until the song actually starts. It's more fusion than funk but grooves. Hard.
The bassline in "I Should Have Loved You" by Narada Michael Walden is super cool too. I discovered the song in the Funk 101 thread, and it's nowadays one of the songs I like to play along to the most.

Something about the wah/envelope filter'd bass just does it for me*. (Actually, anyone have any suggestions as a way to get that sort of tone out of an evelope filter or a wah? I'm all ears)
*and by does it for me, I mean makes me want to bang chicks, like all good groove/funk should do |

"Barbary Coast" is another that uses that same vibe.

I can never keep the titles straight, is that the tune with the repeating constant 8th-note bassline that goes AGAE GAAG | AGAE GAAG | etc, the one that got used for a Victoria's Secret commercial a few years back? If so, that's definitely the first tune that came to my mind when I saw this thread title. Lee Sklar makes that line just roll along like a [insert sexist cliché involving 5" heels & well-defined gluteous maximus here] |

It was the first one in my head too.
You have a good taste in grooves.
The bassline is rather simple, but it's working extremely well. Or, perhaps it is the reason it's working so well?
Have to agree on that Come On, Come Over chorus too. Among the favorites, definitely.
