Eddie Van Halen solo on Michael Jackson's "Beat It". IMO, few solos condense a player's vocabulary that well.

Allman Brothers - In Memory of Elizabeth Reed

Two great lead guitarists, a bassist and a black drummer (you know he's keeping time) who have jazz roots, that does it for me. The other guys are good too, of course.

Jerry Cantrell's solos on the Alice in Chains songs "Love, Hate, Love" and "Dirt" are the first solos that pop to my mind on when it comes to the subject of favourite guitar solos.

Yeah agree, good solo. I like a lot of Lifeson's but my fave of his has to be 'Limelight' from Moving Pictures.

So many great ones, but the ones that encapsulate soloing guitar are by Jimi Hendrix:

Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)
Power to Love
