So I was just watching a few clips of Zep live, and I was wondering what everyones favorite John Pual Jones bassline was.
Please note, I did NOT ask what you think is the most technically difficult, or what is the "best" bassline. I simply want to know what is your favorite.
My vote is Ramble On.

The first time I saw the Chili Peppers, Flea started out playing the first bar or two of this song. I thought, "These guys are cool!" |

| | | | "Good Times, Bad Times"- Plenty of stuff packed into that short tune.
"Ramble On"- Chops builder
"What Is & What Should Never Be"- Great feel & lyricism
"The Lemon Song"- Improvising over a Blues
"Black Dog"- Riff oriented
"The Crunge"- Odd time Rock/Funk
"The Ocean"- Odd Time riff in the chorus; driving verse...walking bass on the outro.
"The Wanton Song"- Chops builder for playing octaves at tempo.
"Kashmir" is also fun with with a live drummer who really knows the material.

"Dazed and Confused"
"The Lemon Song"
"Immigrant Song"
"Ramble On"
"Livin' Lovin' Maid"
"In My Time of Dying"
I always find myself jamming on those!
The outro to "The Ocean" is awesome. How to walk over a two chord change and make it interesting!
"Bass and Drums" from ZOOMA is way cool also. |

The riff that started it all.
