I've always liked rootsy rock, going back to bands like The Blasters, Stray Cats, and Fabulous Thunderbirds in the 1980's, and of course older stuff like CCR. In recent years, I think much of the best rock has been rootsy stuff, heavily infused with blues, country, etc. I'm thinking of bands and artists like:
The Black Keys
John Doe
Lucinda Williams
Drive-By Truckers
Reigning Sound
Los Lobos (of course)
So, who are your favorite roots rockers? I'm sure plenty are out there I don't know about (probably because I don't talk to my cousin enough). I'm mostly interested in active bands and artists, but treasures from the vaults are welcome too!

Southern Culture On The Skids is always great fun as well, as is Dave Alvin and Rodney Crowell's songwriting... Maybe not 'Roots', but definitely in that vein...

Now a days, Kings of Leon, Black Keys, to an extent, Cold Play.
