favourite minimalist band

Back in the day, we used to refer to The Cars and Devo as "minimalist." Indeed, I think they inspired the term.

What makes them "minimalist"?

That lead singer reminds me of Jodi Fosters character in "Nell".

As it pertains to music? That was the first time I remember hearing that term associated with pop music.

Were there earlier pop bands that were called "minimalist?"

Minimal music is like 3 chord Punk Rock...But way slower and quieter.

Erm, by minimalist, you mean like small line up, one effect on guitar, and such?

Well, blink-182 is that exactly. Well, the early blink was. 3 guys, guitar used no effects pedals(A/B switch between amps on clean and dirty channel), guitar with a single humbucker, both instruments with only a single volume knob and no tone.

I think this is what you mean right?
