Angry FedEx did a number on me! What do I do?

Sign in to disble this ad
I woke up this morning very excited. According to the tracking information that a seller gave me, my new (to me) Mesa Big Block 750 was due to show up where I work. At about 4pm, the FedEx driver showed up.

I received a very small piece of gray plastic that weighed about 1 ounce! It just had the shipper's/seller's address tag wrapped around it! The FedEx tag even said that it weighed 50.9 lbs! So where is the amp and what the *&%# is this piece of plastic!?

I refused the shipment and explained to the driver that it was very important that he find the correct shipment. He drove away. I called FedEx claims department just after he left. The lady on the other side said that someone would call me within the next couple of days.

Has anyone had anything like this happen to them? Any suggestions of how I should handle this? I'm very angry and irrational at the moment and need some peace of mind.

Where did you buy this from?

Ebay? Sure it wasn't auction for a Mesa Boogie key chain?

DHL said "packaged delivered" and I got nothing. Sig required and the driver admitted no one was home and he signed for it himself! It seemed an open and closed case...

Months of fighting, and I finally got "PART" of the money due to me.

Fedex delivered 2 high end breed love acoustic guitars (Going to my father a dealer) and 4 blocks away to another house. The correct address was on the box and they still got it wrong.

I assume that your package is somewhere in a pile that says "This needs a home no tag" and you will get it. keep on them, skip the entry level people....they give you the run around because its company policy.

Remember it not that persons fault, so be nice to them but let them know you mean business!
Best of luck,
Jonathan

Hopefully the seller insured it and you are now required to use a lot of patience. They are a very strong company and should stand by you, especially with the proof on the tag of the weight difference.

If He brought you to it; He'll bring you through it!

Ebay. There aren't any MB dealers anywhere close to where I live. The (reputable) seller shipped from Utah. I know that FedEx had to have received the amplifier; the shipment clearly stated that it weighs 50.9 lbs.

that is utterly bizzare. I think i would have freaked out on the delivery man! (though i know it wouldn't really be justified, but still)

When you create a shipment online you can declare any weight, as long as it weighs less, usually the shipping company doesn't care since you probably overpaid to ship it.

What was the sellers feedback rating?

I kind of did.

Regardless of what happens, I think I owe him an apology. He double checked his truck; it probably isn't his fault.

+1

Don't give the local drivers a reason in the future to put a 50 lb box on a top shelf in the truck to kindly fall off at any given time as an accident.

His rating is 18/100% positive/member since 2004. If you look under 'completed auctions" on Ebay, you can find this one.

I got my UPS driver a card with a $50 in it. He is AWESOME. Before the card he even gave me his work phone number so I can call if I miss him and drive to where he is and get the package. (with the stipulation not to call after 6pm or before 3pm.

best driver EVER!
He even makes a stop later in the day at my house because he knows I am not home till after 3pm.

FedEx is terrible where I live as well. They use subcontract drivers especially with their home delivery service. I've received several packages days after the original scheduled delivery date. Drivers have thrown packages in with my 80 pound Labrador knowing full well he is there. I had a driver deliver my package at 9 PM in his Cadillac EscaladeI have since refused to buy from someone who will "only" ship with FedEx. I'd honestly rather have something sent Priority Mail than FedEx. Keep us posted on what happens.

Later R.

This is not what I wanted to see while waiting on my bass to show up from FedEx. Especially since it was supposed to show up on Saturday. Usually these things show up eventually, it's the condition that they're in when that arrive that worries me. Of course our FedEx driver is better than some but still doesn't inspire much confidence in me. The UPS driver on the other hand is really good.

I haven't called him regarding this yet. I probably should call soon.

In case FedEx cannot find my amp, does anyone know how the claim process works as far as compensation goes?

Let's just hope he insured it. Fedex is very specific about not covering musical gear over 100 bucks. Especially guitars, this could be an interesting thread.
