SOld my pbass to a fellow talkbasser.
Fed Ex tells me three different stories: 1. shipping label is damaged and they cannot tell where it goes. 2. Shipment is damaged. 3. Box is missing, they have shipping label.
And then they tell me I didn't put a "value" on the online shipment label so if it is loss I will only get $100. This is an american P bass.
Is this BS or am I screwed? I know I put worth $1000 on the dang thing and if I didn't, well, so what? It's pretty obvious what I shipped and I could show the receipt from the buyer.
I've been in contact with the buyer and we're cool when he gets it. If he doesn't....am I in big trouble, out of a bass and now having to refund him, making me out more than $600?
Please tell me I do not need to worry????

Fedex was really cool with me and refunding me oney after losing an 80 pound cab. Call them everyday , and take down the peoples names who you are talking to , take a firm stance . If you keep getting the run around , ask to speak to someone high up and read off the list of all the people who said things about your bass, basically show that the employees dont even know whats going on with it.
I dont think your screwed but I really feel bad you did not put a higher value because that would make things way easier. |

Whatever you do, like A-Step-Towards said, document all calls, emails, etc. with names, dates, and all pertinent information. Be patient and persistent. Remember, you are dealing with the claims department and like a good insurance company they initailly deny any wrongdoing to save a buck. It will take time to get your loss refunded. Unless of course they happen to find it.

I had a problem and worked with a fedex guy by the name of brock he was pretty cool, but that was with fedex freight not sure if he handles other claims.
If you would like his contact info feel free to PM me and I will get it for you. |

Just keep up your fight and you'll get something back. Even if you don't get everything it'll be a little peace of mind if they give you some portion of whatever they will. |

As best as I can remember (used to work for FedEx) if it was sent through a third-party pack & ship type store, they're on the hook for submitting the claim. I'd still be phoning them (fedex) every day though.
You're going to really have to stress to them that you did fill out the $1000 dollar amount in the declared value part. From their end of things, if you *hadn't* put it in, it's as good as not insuring your car and then complaining that no one's paying for the damage when you get in an accident.
Just to be clear - stress to them that you *did* fill out the amount.
And hey, there's still a chance they might actually find it - it really might take awhile. If it winds up in that lost item center they have, that place is frickin huuuuge, and it could take them quite awhile to figure out who it belongs to.
Hope it works out for you. |

Contact the third party shipper right away, though, and get all of the information you can, from pickup logs to the prepared documents, tracking numbers, etc. I'd probably even have the third party call FedEx. FedEx is a company, and companies respond better to other companies than they do to individuals.
