FedEx tale of woe...

Sign in to disble this ad
Well today I got a bit of sad news. The EBS Octave pedal I had purchased through Musician's Friend was delivered today...

...only I don't have it.

They say it was delivered to my "Front door". I was at work at the time, but my sister happened to be at my apartment at the time. She saw no box, no FedEx guy.

I called customer service and was told that they would contact the driver and find out where he might have left the package. From what I could gather, the address was correct(though they had no apartment number in the computer, but noticed that there was one on the label?)Hours later, I call again and I am told that someone would contact me in the morning.

I have to say that FedEx has been to my door numerous times, without any problems. I just hope that I can get my pedal without any major league hassles.

Anyone have any suggestions/experiences?

p.s. I did not ask for a signature at delivery(I believe I was not given that option)

I just hope he didn't dump it on your porch. It has happened in the past.

As long as you didn't specify that they leave the package there without a signature, they should be responsible for it. Was it insured? Hopefully no one took off with it.

So, am I screwed?
I can't be certain, but I don't think I was given the option for insurance or a required signature when I ordered the pedal from MF's website.

UPDATE:

Well, I just talked to FedEX customer service today. They are now telling me that there is a 45% that the driver who delivered on my route may even call me back! Great.

I called MF and began a claim. They asssured me that they will try to find out what happened and that I will not have to pay for something I never recieved. So, for about eight to ten business days, I will have to wait...

I had the exact same thing happen once, but with a $2900 bass that was supposed to have been delivered to my house. Turns out the driver just dropped it off at my neighbor's because he didn't want to leave it on my patio.

I bought a Fender Custom Shop Jazz bass about a month ago. Fed Ex left this >$2K bass outside my office door! My secretary found it in the hallway when she arrived. We share a hallway with a busy doctor's office. Anyone could have walked off with it! Amazing.

I don't know how I would handle the situation had it been a $2k+ item.
I imagine I would not be as calm...

MF has atleast given me hope that this problem will be resolved(i.e. I get my pedal!)

I was freaked out at first. I knew the bass was coming, and I checked my computer where I was working to see that it had already arrived. I get home to do the "where the hell is my bass" circle around my house. Called FedEx, told they'd try to track down the driver. Luckily he called them back a few minutes after to tell me my neighbor had it.

That's been my experience with both FedEx & UPS. Essentially if the shipper does not state that they require a signature then they just leave it on my porch. I just received my Whappo Jr from Accugroove about 1/2 an hour ago via FedEx. Luckily Mark w.Accugroove demands a signature for delivery. I couldn't imagine loosing a bass or amp because of something like that.

FedEx called and told me that the driver was going to look into it on Friday. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
