Fellow TBers performances

As I make plans to check out JokerJunky's band tonight, I thought, "Hey, we need a thread to talk about our fellow TBer's shows". So after his show, I'll do little review. I hope Jae has been practicing.

We suuport each other in so many other ways on this site, so let's check out each-other's shows!

Tell us about your experiences at another TBer's performance.

Heh, actually Mal and I go to each other's gigs quite frequently, and he knows I was just kidding around. He actually took over the bass slot in a band I used to play with too, which worked out well for both of us. I still get to sit in once in a while. Another TB'er, hillbillyfunk, gigs nearby around once a month, and I see him play pretty often too. Frickin' hippie!

Then I've seen a couple of guys over on Maui, Jerry and Marcus Johnson. Couldn't have been two more different venues, a slightly scary locals' sports bar upcountry, and the Four Seasons on the chi-chi side of the island. Good times in both cases though. All of these guys can really play BTW.

Oh, yeah, there's also my nephew, who goes by Dirk Diggler on TB. He killed it on his homemade Ashbory clone a few weeks ago at a show he and I were playing back in Rhode Island.

Man, I dont know of many other TBers in central CA, I would love to goto some gigs...............

We could actually announce the gig by starting a thread and discuss it in the same thread.

well, I had a chance to check out Jokerjkny at his show last weekend. His group rocked. The drums were a little overwhelming in the mix, but otherwise the band was tight and I like their songs. Jae's playing was alot simpler than expected, but it fit in the context of the band real well. Very tasteful on his part, but I know he has stronger chops hidden away if needed. Stage presence was good, and overall a good performance.

I also had a chance to check out Joe Nerve at NAMM this winter. Talk about stage presence. He had IT. If he wasn't loving every minute of it, and getting into the tune, you wouldn't know it. His chops were very solid and his groove was deep.

I've seen plenty of other TBers play, but not at a show, so I won't comment on them.

We'll I've had the privilege of seeing Mikebass play several times in the Detroit area and basically he puts on a clinic. He truly has world class chops.

I've seen Matrok play with a couple of bands and at church. He is a real solid groove player that knows how to lay it down. He has a very pro studio player attitude.

I've also seen Ryan Godote (Low down sound ) play with his band twice, once opening for the headhunters and he can definitely get funky and he has a real unique finger-style sound. Don Oatman (low down sound) plays in a country band that KJung, Mikebass, and I checked out a couple of weeks ago and he can root-five with the best of them!

Does anybody know of any TB'ers having a gig in Detroit on the 21st? I'll be up that way to visit some friends for Thanksgiving, and we're looking to check out some live music.
