Fender basses and Fender Guitars

I am wondering if there is a relationship between fender bass preference and fender guitar preference.

The two bass choices are P's and J's
The two guitar choices are strats and tele's

My pref is P's and tele's.

Is this poll for people who double on guitar? Otherwise, I don't get it.

yeah, that is the point of it.

I get the impression that the standard for preferences around here are jazz basses and I feel the standard for guitars are strats.

I am essentially wondering if P-bass players prefer playing tele's?

or if there is no correlation.

Jazz and strat for me.

also, before anyone asks this thread is fine in misc. as it is more about a certain relationship rather than basses.

I love Tele's but a Strat's more versatile. Therefore if I only have one, it'll be a Strat. Tele is #2 in the gig bag but #1 in my heart.

I understand what the OP is trying to research.

I often wonder about this myself.

The same as we have Jazz or Precision lovers, on the guitar side we have Tele or Strat lovers.

I voted Precision and Strat.

Although I do own a Telecaster, because it's the most comfortable to me. But I prefer the sound of a Strat.
If I was a fulltime guitarist I would get a Strat.
I'm now replacing my Telecaster with a Les Paul for recording purposes.

Too bad there isn't an 'all of the above' choice.

I agree

I love the sound of all the classic Fenders. Jazzmasters, Jaguars, and Bass VI's included. They all have their merits.

Depends. I like how Jazz basses and Teles sound when others play them. But when I play them they just don't work so well for me, but I like my P bass and my Strat.

But, the real deal is this- I much prefer a great acoustic guitar over everything else.

This. Aesthetically, I'd pick the Jazz and the Strat. And they sound great, too. But so do the P and the Tele! I love all four of them. (Damn, I'm turning into Brett Favre with my "decision-making"...)

Truly, there are no bad choices, really.

But all said, I just love a jangely Tele with the low mid punch of a P.

In my band it's usually my J-bass with my guitard's Tele and it works well. But it might be my Epi JC Signature or my P-bass with his Strat; still works. One of the best combinations I ever heard was Albert Collins with a guy who played a P with a Gibson mudbucker added right next to the neck. AC's twang and that guy's thud thru an Acoustic 360 were an amazing mix.

It ain't the tool - it's who uses it.

PS: Anybody who might know who that bassist is - he played with AC in the early 70's - would earn my undying admiration if they could identify him. He was a tall white cat with a greasy hairstyle and a soul patch long before they became fashionable for white folks.
