Fender, How could you

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok it is made by squier but that does not change the fact that fender, a respected brand, completely murdered the bass guitar.

BEHOLD

the worst signature bass ever!
http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...ass?sku=515076

Now i am not saying this sounds bad or it is not well made but they chose a mediocre bass player and a poser to make a signature bass of. I thought they were meant to support amazing talent and influence eg. Geddy Lee bass.

why oh why?

this is all IMO :P

Sales

Bet alot of emo-types go out and get it.

Thats what most signature models are all about, a bass which appeals to a fan base. Although, the Geddy is a nice one, and im not a rush fan , if that annoys you, what about the one they did/do for the guy from Blink182?

Signature models help support nothing other than fender sales.

Skill isnt a part of the equation, its all about popularity (well, for the most part).

Mike Dirnt from greenday also has a signature model. Its just a rouse to catch the fanboys generally, the Geddy took off quite well because people like the block inlays

+1 It's not about who's deserving of one. It's about the flavor of the month. Now if we were talking strictly about deserving one, of the three Wentz, Hoppus and Dirnt, Dirnt would get one before the other two, IMHO.

The sad part isn't that the instrument is being made.

The sad part is that there is a market for it.

I'm feel bad hearing everyone rip on this bass. If there was ever a universal symbol of punk rock, a bat with a heart would be it. Well...at least until they come out with the D.A.R.E Bear riding a butterfly model Sid Vicious sig.

Yeah, she looks real cute when she pretends to play the songs she didn't write on it.

Cute blonde girls and Telecasters sounds like a winning sales campaign to me.
Now did someone say this this had something to do with music?

Please say you were being sarcastic, and I just missed it because I've had to watch my 6 year old become reacqainted with Sonic the Hedgehog for the best part of this morning. At least he had more fun with the toys than the boxes this year.

A neon green mohawk (had one when I was 16-18) would sum up punk for me. I won't divulge any particulars for what I think a bat with a heart in it symbolizes.

Hey, I'm looking at a picture, who gives a damn what she sounds like?

I don't like the idea of signature bass guitars. I think the closest thing I would ever buy to a sig model is a Warwick Buzzard. I'm looking for my own sound, not someone else's.
