Finale PrintMusic users?

Looks like I have to translate some piano scores to bass parts and walking bass lines in the next couple of days. I was going to hand write these on the sheet music I was given, but found out this morning that the vocalists will be changing the keys on a handful of tunes...and I won't get those changes for a few more days. The gig is in four days and I won't have the luxury of rehearsing beforehand. Yeah me!

Anyway, I was thinking of plugging everything into something like Finale PrintMusic (30-day free demo) and like that I can scan the piano score. That could save a ton of time and allow me to make rapid key changes to the lines I worked out. For the PrintMusic users, do you know if I can remove the treble clef once I scan it in?

Some of the songs are several double-sided pages and I would like to get things down to just a page or two so I'm not flipping pages every 10 seconds on some of the faster tunes.

Well once it is in Printmusic, you can do whatever you want with it. However, with the 30day demo version, you can't print or save.

For something free , try musescore.

I like free.

I didn't see this on their site...can the software transpose keys? That would be the main reason for using this software as I know I'm getting a key change or three coming my way AFTER I work on my part.

This is incorrect, you can print and save on the printmusic demo, you can't print and save on the full finale demo. Print music is a fantastic program, I really enjoy it. Good luck!

Yeah, the software can transpose by just changing the key of the piece or you can right click on the measure and click transpose to just transpose that on measure.

I stand corrected.

Finale Music Composing & Notation Software

"The PrintMusic, SongWriter and NotePad 30-day trial versions will stop printing and saving after 30 days. Full functionality will return when you purchase the product and register it with a valid serial number."

Back to musescore. Yes you can transpose music in the program.

check out this review.

MuseScore 1.1, Free and Open Source Notation, Rivals – and Plays with – Sibelius 7

The current version, does not play back chord symbols in a lead sheet.

I have Finale Notepad, and Musescore, and there are good and bad things about both. I did a little piece in Finale before my rig went down. I had saved the score in my external as a midi file. When I got back up and running, I found Musescore and imported the mid file into it. What a mess! Have'nt tried transposing yet. I'll have to look at that and see how it's done, might make it look usable enough to print.

Sorry about the pic size/quality, but this is what happened when I tried it. Same song.
