A great big +1

Herbie is still awesome. Didn't he say that they hadn't given that particular award to a jazz guy in 43 years?

Three threads on the crack chic, and only one on Herbie. That aint right man; I tell you what we are losing the ability to think for ourselves adn are thinking in media sound bytes. Its all wrong man.!

HERBIE! YES! I was so pleased to hear that ( I was stuck on planes all weekend), and to trib Joni Mitchell as well. Joni is one of my best voices ever man.

Heard his comments this am onteh radio, and it was like, " Yup, that's the right guy, right there! "

I was excited as well. Gotta love Herbie, a million times more than anything else out there now.

Interesting. Looks like he's referring to 1965's "Getz/Gilberto".

Although Norah Jones (2003) and Tony Bennett (1995) might lay claim to that title.

There does seem to be a trend where this Grammy goes to an an older, established artist who does an album of collaborations with pop artists: Hancock, Ray Charles, and Carlos Santana, all within the last 8 years.

This was very heartening to see.
A great great artist worthy of this recognition.

Didn't he win a grammy for "Rock it" in the mid 80's?

I had to download the album when I read this and I'm listening to it now. Great one so far! I didn't know about this album so it was a nice surprise. I'm absolutely going to buy it next time I order some CD's. I'm not really fond of Joni Mitchell's voice so I haven't listened to her music, but she's luckily only featured on one track here. However, the whole album is Joni's music.

Norah Jones is featured on the first track on the album. This album is actually what I hoped Norah Jones' album "Come away with me" would have been when I bought it. Vocal jazz mixed with instrumental jazz, in a very laid-back, soft atmosphere yet not boring.

I'm happy a jazz album got the Album of the year Grammy. First time in 40 years, right?
