ahhh after a few months of fiddling around with different basses, amps, picks ect. i'm finally happy with my tone.

i've been trying to find a bass that is easy to play, doesnt cost much, isnt too bright, dont get fret buzzes, isnt too muddy.

been trying to figure out amp settings that work with a pick and fingers and i've finally worked out a way to get a smooth sound without getting a load of bad finger noises.

trying to find a strap that didnt slip and was comfortable.

been trying to find a pick that wasnt too sharp, wasnt too flexy, wasnt too sturdy.

here's the list:

Squire Precision special with p/j pickup config.

GK 400RB-IV/210 combo.

leather strap 5MM thick, 2.3" wide.

dunlop big stubby 2.0MM

i have FINALLY found the sound i want.

thankyou to all the people on talkbass who have helped me in advise for basses, amps ect.

i'm happpy at last!

the triangle ones get in the way or my other fingers, but the stubbys are great.

I like the big stubbies, but they get really slippery when my hands start to sweath. What I had to do was take some sand paper to them to rough them up a bit.
