There's bandmix.com, but I don't know how effective it is. I put a profile up there a few years ago, I've gotten 3 or 4 emails since then, none very promising. I'd imagine it's use varies a bit region to region.

And I want the lifestyle of a Duran Duran video, with Eva Mendes and Eva Longoria on speed dial. So?

Drummers are the easiest IME. Order lots of pizza's (They seem to deliver pizza's with startling regularity) or cruise the street in front of the homeless shelter wearing a Zildjian T-shirt.

But you'd have to be playing bass, probably with a guitarist as well, when the pizza shows up. Otherwise, the delivery guy won't know to say "Oh, you guys jam? Im a drummer!"

You gotta get into the local scene and get known among the local musicians. That's really the best way to keep yourself active and working with other quality musicians. Unfortunately, that's tough to get into since it's not like they all meet up every other Thursday at a Coco's diner. It gets easier the more musicians you know and the longer you stay planted in one city or town.
