finger cramped up!

was playin a gig on friday night. during one song my finger on my right hand just went really stiff. it was weird. i shook it and it kinda went back to normal. played another gig on saturday and seemed to be ok. but now my hand feels kinda weird still. iv been playing bass 14 years now and this has never happened b4. Does anybody else have this problem?

I think it's just cramp as you say. I've had a cramp once while playing bass, though my cramp is in the wrist and bends the hand in towards my arm. I used to have the same cramp when dinghy racing, and it was to do with tiredness.

If you can shake it out, and if the next gig was ok I doubt if it is a big problem: someone with better medical knowledge than me will suggest eating bananas or salt, or something else.

Many hand cramps are due to partial dehydration. Drinking more water can help. BTW, this is more likely to happen to older players.

+1 I'm 53 and its happened to me on and off over the last couple of years. Drink more water and keep hydrated!!

Thanks guys! Probably dehydration. had been drinkn lots of beers at gigs lately.
