Fire Up The Faculty Band Just One Last Time!

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm a teacher at an elementary school...and over the past five years we've had this little band that plays for different functions---like the kids talent show. We've got the principal on drums, one of our 2nd grade teacher dudes on guitar and I (of course) get to lay down the low stuff Sometimes the guitar player and I switch instruments just to keep the kids guessing...but now I'm kinda sad Our district is expanding so much that my guitar player is leaving for another school and the principal is moving on too.

So...today and tomorrow is our last hurrah as a floundering, pretty sick-sounding, thrown-together group. Get to play the Talent Show again as the last act---and get these kids all wound up before putting them on the bus! Sometimes it's fun to be as goofy as you want to be in front of kids...this is one of those times....

"Twist and Shout" anybody???

Wow, that sounds great, sorry to hear that life's currents are splitting up your band.

But change brings opportunity - maybe some of the new staff will be musicians, and you can spread the joy around.

everytime we play I realize how thankful I am that I have a real gig other than this...even though the kids cheer just cause it's funny to see teachers singing and acting crazy. And I hope you're right about finding some new musicians----that would be cool.

and since our Metallica song didn't go over really well last year, we decided to go a little lighter this time

No, I won't hijack the thread at the behest of Office Space.

May I, however, suggest playing something from the Dying Fetus catalogue?

That pic is cute.

Isn't that, like a polyester Hawaiian shirt?

Of course, when I was in elementary school, I was
the guy on strings. Violin ... What happened to that,
is elementary music education totally gone funding-wise?

rayon I think...isn't that like a cousin to polyester?

they did have a few piano players....but mostly it's dance teams and/or folks singing along with pop music. that is until the old farts get up and "crank it"!!

Angry typing IS the key to winning an argument, after all.
